Cider House To Reopen Under New Ownership

Dear Friends:

We owned the Cider House BBQ & Pub for the last nine years and it has been a labor of love. In the coming weeks we will turn over the reigns of the CIder House to a fresh young talented chef. He will continue with the Cider House and build upon our work and bring new and innovative changes while keeping the old favorites. As such, we will be closing the business after dinner service on Saturday October 17th so that Jimmy and I have time to prepare for our exit and the transition to the new owner.

We have enjoyed every minute of our time in Waterbury. It is a great place to live. We truly appreciate the locals, our supporters, our friends, our neighbors, the tourists, and all the people that have made the Cider House special. We will have fond memories from our time here. It truly was the best years of our lives. Our thanks to everyone who helped us during the good and the bad times. We only survived a flood and a years worth of road work because of you. We are very lucky people.

Please come back and visit the new place after Chef Daniel takes over. He will be taking over this website so please check back here regularly to get updates on the reopening and future plans for the place.

Thanks for everything.
Tom Sullivan & Jimmy Dotson

The Cider House BBQ & Pub opened its doors at 1675 US Route 2 in Waterbury, VT on March 22, 2007. Located on the site of the former Farr's Roadhouse on US Route 2 heading toward Bolton, the Cider House BBQ & Pub focuses on using fresh local products to provide a taste of the South up North.

Besides the BBQfare featured at the restaurant, we introduce diners to an assortment of southern style dishes like southern chicken fried steak and blackened catfish along with the staples of the South: okra, collard greens, hush puppies, and fried green tomatoes.

As the name implies, Cider House BBQ & Pub also features a variety of Vermont made apple ciders and hard ciders to sample with your food, or while sitting at the full service bar or while relaxing in the lounge by the fireplace. For those who prefer something a bit stronger, the Cider House provides an array of refreshing Southern cocktails like a mint julep, a dapper apple, a New Orleans hurricane if you are looking for something unique.

"We believe in buying from local producers, providing great food at reasonable prices and giving people a fun and relaxing atmosphere to gather." One of the owners, James Dotson, is enthusiastic on his new venture. "We think the Cider House BBQ & Pub is a welcome addition to the beautiful town of Waterbury as a gathering place for locals and tourists alike."
